Helping People Live the Paso Style,  Events, Wine, Food, Living                                                        December 2006

Upcoming Events:
As the holidays approach, Paso Robles gets into a festive mood with Light the Downtown and the Christmas Light Parade December 2.

The area’s signature holiday event has become the Vine Street Victorian Holiday Showcase, which features 13 blocks of pedestrian traffic along Vine Street complete with colorfully decorated homes, community organizations serving festive fare, and a wonderful assortment of local musicians and bands performing holiday music for one extraordinary evening.

It's certainly that special holiday time in Paso Wine Country.  Each community has it's own unique Christmas Celebration.

Wine Corner:  (A Brief review of local Paso Wines)
I try and keep the Wine Corner focused on Paso Robles wines, which this is, in a round about way.  It's Rosenblum 2004, Richard Sauret Vineyard.  Rosenblum is actually located in Alameda, not known for it's vineyards,  but Rosenblum is well know for their wines.  Rosenblum, and other quality wine producers are finally recognizing the quality of Paso Robles fruit producing Paso Robles labeled wines.  One of best of which is from the Richard Sauret Vineyard.  Richard Sauret has been working with Zinfandel grapes since the early 1940's, so he does know a bit about how to produce excellent Zin grapes.

This wine is excellent.  It is smooth, balanced and not over oaked like so many lesser wines are.  As my wife says, it's has that true zin zing with a very pleasant after taste of cinnamon.

The fact that Rosenblum has vineyard designating a Paso Robles wine indicates to me that Paso is finally getting the recognition it deserves as a fine grape producer.

Wine Trivia: (A little local or wine trivia)
The Paso Robles Region is well know for both it's Bordeaux and Rhone wines. Bordeaux varietals account for 60% of the Paso grape acreage. Which of the following is NOT a Bordeaux varietals:
    a) Malbec
    b) Petit Verdot

Paso Style Living Real Estate: (Real Estate market conditions in Paso Wine Country)
The local market continues in a similar pattern as the past couple of months.  Inventories are high, but properties are selling when priced properly for the market.  The longer term outlook for Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo County is very positive.  The SLO County Economic Outlook is projecting Paso to become the economic center of San Luis Obispo County.  Paso is growing at a greater rate than other cities in the county and is projected to continue on that path. Certainly good news for the local real estate buyer.  (Single Family Homes, SFRSB)
