Annual Pinot and Paella Festival
If you like Paella or if you like Pinot this, in my opinion, is one of the
more fun events of the area. It's an opportunity to taste paella prepared
onsite by chefs from across the state. Paso is not well know for it's
Pinot Noir, but there are several locally wineries producing an excellent
wine. It's much smaller and intimate than the hugely successful Wine
Festival, but it small size allows everyone to mingle and enjoy some great
wine and great food. That's what makes it fun!

Local
News:
(Local RE and Wine News)
I follow the San Luis Obispo Planning
Commission very closely for important changes in winery land
use issues. In May a winery was approved which isn't,
in itself, important, but I decided the Wine was worth
a discussion.
Secret
Winery. I use
the term secret winery to highlight a point that it doesn't
require lots of advertising, distribution, and tasting room
glitz to be successful in the wine business. It
just takes good, or should I say excellent wine.
The wine I'm referring to doesn't have estate vineyards, you
will not find it at Albertsons or any retail wine outlet.
Matter of fact, I have no idea how to buy a bottle since
they don't have a tasting room. So how could a winery
be successful this way. Well, this winery sells it's
entire production to it's wine club. Now even more
extraordinaire is that the waiting list is over two years
for membership.
So most
people have never heard of the wine. But I don't think
that matters to the members of the prestigious group.
I'm just hoping that John Munch's new winery
will allow Le Cuvier to produce enough wine so I can get on
the list. |

Style Living Real Estate:
(Real
Estate market conditions in Paso Wine Country)
What's Selling!
What's Not! The California Association of Realtors reports for April
that home sales are down 27.8% while median home prices are up 6.2%.
So why are home prices up and sales volume down?
Good Quality, Stylish homes are still selling for good
value! There is a volume of homes on the market that, to use the
official term, are Functionally Obsolete. More commonly, "Dated".
Two years ago people were willing to buy a "dated" home because they
knew they could invest $100,000 bringing it up to today's style and make
money in the expanding market.
Home styles seem to go in 10 year cycles. When
you walk into a home and can immediately identify the probable year of
construction based upon the style of Kitchen Cabinets, Countertops,
Flooring, Tile, etc. The Home is "Dated" and will not yield the
same pricing as a updated home.
