"Harvest Wine Tour"

Harvest is that special time of year in Paso Robles Wine Country when warm days and cool nights are a buzz with activity. The vineyards have changed color, blanketing the landscape in red and gold. Scents of ripened fruit surround you and the echo of celebration from a hard year’s work fill the air. The harvested fruit is set to begin its transformation into premium Paso Robles wine. Come celebrate the beginning of the 2007 vintage.

The 2007 Harvest Wine Tour, October 19, 20 and 21, 2007 is a time to experience the genuine Paso Robles hospitality. This is when wineries open their doors to offer an abundance of activities unique to wine country.

It's the best time to experience what wine making is all about. Many of the new or smaller wineries find this the best time to introduce themselves.  Take the Tour!

Wine Notes: (Local RE and Wine News)

Local Eating:  Paso has some excellent restaurants,  some very fine dining establishments which are gaining acclaim. Yet the area still has the small, quaint local flavor establishments that many enjoy.  At least I do.
One of those places is Papi's.  Papi's is one of the best Mexican restaurants and it's conveniently located also.  I'm always amazed that such a great Mexican place with it's Tacos and Gorditas is just across the street from Bistro Laurent, one of the finest French restaurants between LA or SF.
Papi's is good for a quick lunch or that great desire for Mexican food before or after a movie.  It's on Pine between 12th and 13th streets.  Check it out!

Land Use in San Luis Obispo County:
I have to say the most requested type of property is: vacant land; about 5 to 10 acres; level; covered in Oaks; and located on the Paso Westside.  Oh yes, and one more thing, it has to be a Paso Address, not Templeton.  Well, it doesn't exist!
Seriously, I get a lot of request for small parcels on the Westside.  The beautify of the Westside is fantastic,  but one of the reasons for the beauty and character of the Paso Westside in the lack of small parcels.  The SLO County Planning Commission is working hard to keep it that way.  Generally, the minimum size for a Westside parcel is 40 acres.  There are some previous parcel divisions which are less,  but generally few new parcels are being created less than 40 acres.
Do not despair,  there are parcels that come available from time to time.  Give me a call and we may be able to find something.

Roquefort and Red Wine Reduction:         This is a recipe I ran across which sounds extremely good.  It's one I intend on making soon.

  1 large clove garlic
  ½ stick butter
¼ lbs. Roquefort cheese (or a good blue cheese)
1-2 cups red wine, reduced to less than one ounce

Sauté garlic in the butter. Add the wine and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in the cheese until melted. Serve over a freshly grilled New York steak. (Also tastes great over baked potatoes!)

Wine & Local Trivia:

Last month we learned that the dimple in the bottom of a wine bottle is know as either a Punt or a Kick.  So, What is the purpose of the Punt?

  a) No Modern Purpose, A Tradition from when bottles were hand blown
  b) A place for settlement to accumulate with red wine
  c) Bottle Strength
  d) All of the Above

Paso Style Living Real Estate: (Real Estate market conditions in Paso Wine Country)
Stabilization of the financial markets is happening.  Mortgage Interest rates are down and appear to be heading farther down.  Jumbo loan rates are back to where they were before if not lower.  I heard a quote of 6.5% no points for a Jumbo loan.  Considering 6 weeks ago I was hearing quotes of 8% for Jumbo's that's amazing!
I'm actually surprised there hasn't been more movement in sales activity during September with interest rates for conventional mortgages the best they have been in quite a while and Jumbo mortgages returning to what they were a couple of months ago.  There are people looking for deals and there are lots of deals available.  In addition if you want someone to guide you though the process of Foreclosure and REO purchases I can help.
